RE: Adobe Acrobat versions - what do I need for catalog (indexing)?

I have Adobe Professional 8. The feature you are looking for is found 
under the "Advanced" tab/Document Processing/ Full Text Index with 
Catalog. I use it to provide an index on autorun CD catalogs.

I really only need one feature, the ability to
