These efforts are often ineffective.  Most technology companies
devote a fair amount of effort to composing unique descriptions of
what they do and how they see themselves for use in their "about
us" web pages and their job listings, and more often than not 
contract recruiters copy and paste enough of this material into 
their listings that if you are experienced in the client company's
technology and can recognize the unique bits it won't take more
than a few minutes of searching to find yourself looking at the
client company's direct job listing on its own website.
