LaTeX-based translation workflows

Hi,

We have a few publications written in LaTeX2e and want to keep them in
this format. I am now looking into how to translate these files.

Does anyone of you have experience with LaTeX-based translation
workflows for commercial localization tools (TRADOS, et al)? 

I don't see any problems with the languages covered by the
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} - which are ISO 8859-1 - but what about
encodings for Greek, Cyrillic and CJK? I don't immediately see how to
retain the encodings for those languages and still get the texts out of
LaTeX format and into the localization tools.

I guess one way is to go via one of the LaTeX to XML converters, but if
possible we would like to avoid that solution.
