True story: I went to that site and followed its directions for a call to
Verizon for DSL. The advice was to say "agent" as soon as you had the
chance to speak.
I called Verizon and the automated, unbelievably polite voice started
offering to help me (Verizon-style).
"Agent," I said. The voice kept on talking . . .
"Agent." . . . and talking.
"Agent. Agent! Agent!! Agent Agent AGENT!!!!!"
Finally a human being did come on the line, with some others in the
background. I swear they were chuckling at me. I think they must have
heard at least a part of my shouting.
The person told me that they, the customer service people, had to use
the same idiotic voice system to reach other Verizon people for
consultations.
"We hate it too," she said.
I hope the other tips are more helpful.

Uh-oh. I emailed that website to my aforementioned brother-in-law. If he tries any of those tips and they don't work, he'll be steamed at me.
