You mean that they intentionally try to break people? If so, that's what
I thought in the first place, and once again, it's not a matter of them
being *out* to break people, but rather a matter of doing it without
being aware they're having that effect.

What I'd like to have substantiated is that voice response systems do
it intentionally and what they feel is the benefit.
