Hi John,

No, you don't "tell them they are doing it wrong." Some of the posters
have already suggested reasonable alternatives to the interviewer's
request. You have to suggest one of those alternatives in a manner that
doesn't question the interviewer's knowledge or experience. You don't
correct the person in charge by saying, "Here, let me show you what
you're doing wrong" -- even if that's what you're actually doing.

I have situations all the time at work where I have to suggest
reasonable alternatives to someone in charge. I've been with my current
employer since October 2002, so maybe I know something about changing
flight paths without ruffling feathers.

Somehow, when you included my original post, you omitted the word
