Subject:OT: I have a password protected zip file? From:Geoff Hart <ghart -at- videotron -dot- ca> To:TECHWR-L <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com>, Sharon Burton <sharon -at- anthrobytes -dot- com> Date:Mon, 13 Apr 2009 16:53:58 -0400
Sharon Burton has an encrypted .zip file: <<... From several years ago
and none of my standard passwords are working. Anyone have ideas?>>
There are tons of password crackers out there; Google for "recover
lost passwords for .zip file" (minus the quotes) and you'll find more
options than anyone could possibly review. Of course, not all of them
will be safe, so caveat emptor!
For a safer alternative, searching PC Magazine using those keywords
provides some suggestions, including: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,696,00.asp
(you'll find specific details for .zip files a couple screens into the
review.)
