I use ScanSoft PDF Converter Professional 4 for OCR from graphics and
such and for converting PDFs to Word. However, I use Acrobat 8
Professional for most everything else that both applications can do.

ScanSoft 4 does OCR conversions far, far better than Acrobat 8 Pro does.
The PDF conversion to Word is about even with both applications, still I
prefer ScanSoft for that.
