OK, now I'm curious. Tell me more.

I've generally been annoyed by "folksy" technical writing (like the
manual that advised me to go make coffee, which I don't drink, while I
waited for the software to install). But I can also see great value
in getting to know users and what they're doing with the products
we're trying to document.
