I've been using Word 2007 since November 2007 and don't have any of
these problems. (I just searched for a version number that I knew was
somewhere in my Inbox and the emails showed up without any problem.)

I really like Word 2007, although it did take a bit of getting used
to. But there are pages on Microsoft's site that help you find where
various options went (Google "Word 2003 2007"). The biggest change
(for me) was getting used to Building Blocks (which is AutoText, but
implemented better).
