Hmm, I've been using FM for somewhat longer than that and have always
considered it one of the more stable major apps with which I've worked.
Maybe your experience with other apps is limited (and thus the
comparison unfair), but you really shouldn't be getting frequent FM
crashes -- occasionally, sure, like any other software, but not
frequently. What's "now and again" -- two or three times a year, several
times a week, ...? The former would be occasional by my reckoning, and
the latter frequent.
If every version of FM from 5 through 9 (presumably spanning multiple
OSes and PCs) has crashed frequently, maybe there's something unusual
about the way you use it or how your environment is configured.
