Thank you for this information. I am currently an unemployed technical
writer and have only received one phone interview since I was laid off a
month and a half ago. I keep thinking that I need an edge since there are
so many people out of work right now. Since I live in Florida, I am
brushing up on my Spanish, hoping that could be the edge I need.
I also feel that my resume needs tweaking even though I've had professionals
review it. I am constantly told that I am doing everything I should be
doing, but that's not getting me an interview.
I have recently applied for an internship with a local software company
since I'm in my senior year of working on my bachelors degree in
Professional and Technical Writing. I've been in the field six years, but I
thought that an internship might help since I've spent the last four and a
half years working solo. As an added benefit, the internship also counts
towards my bachelors degree.
