If the messages Karen received were intentionally written in the manner in which
she interpreted them, I would say that both insult and offense were in play.

It is indeed an individual thing; but my observations lead me to conclude that
examples of arrogance that are amusing rather than insulting or offensive
generally reflect the reactions observers who choose to not be insulted or
offended rather than any actual characteristic of the person exhibiting them.
