Absolutely correct on the difficulty of running wet paper through a press
multiple times for four color (CYMK) printing. Its even more difficult with
six color (HEXACOLOR) printing. Also, National Geographic uses 300 lpi for
their printing needs (or used to).

Unfortunately, as David says, the art of printing is lost to most Technical
Writers today as most of the writing is for on-line delivery, with printing
accomplished on office laser or ink jet printers.

Every technical writer needs to watch a seven unit Heidelberg running full
speed spitting out 175 page copies of a newspaper (including color). The
whole building shakes.
