Patty,

You are most welcome!

As you are probably aware, there are thousands of plug-ins and styles
available to customize your site. For example, you can easily put in
drop-down menus that could link directly to various sections of your
documentation, either from the first page only, from selected pages,
or from all pages.

You can also benefit greatly from tags as an additional search
method--and, if you wish, put a tag cloud in the sidebar area so
people can go right to the relevant information. In short, you can
make it extremely user friendly.

Don't neglect the possibility of adding forums with the companion
BBPress: <http://www.bbpress.org>

Or, perhaps, one or more of the social networking features of
BuddyPress: <http://www.buddypress.org>

For the latter, at least for now, you would have to install WordPress
MU, although the multi user functionality is being merged with the
primary WordPress for an upcoming release.
