Catalan is a Romance language, reads sort of like a hybrid of French
and Spanish (e.g. "Lo gat qui menge lo rat"). Catalan is so close to
Provençal that tourists from Barcelona who visit Nice or vice-versa
can get by pretty well, much better than Spanish and French speakers.
