Not. Illustrator CAN open PDFs generated by other apps, which is how I got into this thread in the first place. Acrobat invoked Illustrator to edit some unrotated text that it claimed was rotated, and so had to be treated as some other kind of object. The original PDF was created from Word (not sure if verion 2003 or 2007).
