I began using Chrome only recently, and it wows me. Oh, sure, it
doesn't have the huge extensions/add-ons base that Firefox does, and
has a few less controls for tweaking browser behavior, but the speed
is simply exhilarating... I remember the upgrade from Firefox 3.0.x to
3.5.x being visibly faster in rendering/Javascript, and the change
from FF 3.5.x to Chrome has a similar visible difference (or maybe
it's just the sites I use! :-) )

The memory footprint (via Chrome's own memory usage page,
about:memory) is quite low compared to Firefox. FF has two tabs open
right now; I have the same two pages open in two tabs in Chrome, as
well as Gmail - and of course, the About Memory tab - and yet, FF is
shown as using 105,599k while Chrome is only using 40,240k (!).

Aye, memory is relatively plentiful now, and I'm not running any VMs,
so FF can hog a lot more without annoying me.. but still, it's
impressive.
