This sounds more like an Acrobat 9 issue than Word. Previous releases of
Acrobat not seem to have this problem with Word 2003.
My experience has been that new releases of Acrobat are too dangerous to use
with anything older than their most concurrent releases of MS Office until at
least the second or third update.
