In addition, there is usually a section in most contracts to declare
existing Intellectual Property (IP) you have in progress. This must come up
a lot with specialists who develop the same type of solutions for every
client who hires them. After all, that's why they're specialists!
You may also want to work out how to handle some of the material you develop
in house that may pertain to the research for your book. It doesn't hurt to
check this in advance.
Amend the contract and send it back unsigned.
