I think you'll find that there are plugins to SharePoint for just
about anything, as is the case with most CMS tools. My experience with
SharePoint is really around building collaborative team environments,
though I have other LMS system experience. As with any systems out
there, you need to compare the feature set against what you need it to
do. SharePoint can likely function as a LMS just as well as a document
CMS, teamroom, wiki, or blogging platform. How well it does any of
those things really relies on what you exactly need those things to be
doing.
