Re: UI description standards

I've commonly seen screen shots used only to document the user interface
itself, to set the framework for the product's terminology. In a series of
labeled screenshots, the user knows whether the product uses familiar or
completely non-standard naming conventions for the different user interface
panels.

>From that point onward, it's straight text:

"From the Main Menu, select File > Open"

"Within the Process pane, right click Rescale and choose 50%"

I keep returning to the System Preferences > Mac Touchpad help for animation
that assists user understanding. The user selects a scrolling option, and a
video shows them the result. I can't even explain it because it takes too
many words. ;-)
