Corrupted is corrupted, but maybe just maybe you can still access the
underlying XML so that you can salvage at least some of the content. Not
sure if this is one of Microsoft's suggestions, but try changing the
file extension to .zip. Unzip the file and see if you can access the
/document.xml/ file which is located in the /word /directory.
