If you're listening to a 64 kb stream, that is 8 KB/second.

Those who work at home and have an unlimited bandwidth broadband
account will find this fairly trivial in most cases, but it's over 28
MB per hour if you are on a capped plan.

Of course, add up many of these in a corporate setting and the network
can indeed become somewhat bogged down.
