Subject:My Word 2007 cross-references are flippin' out From:"Mark Filiatreau" <mfiliatreau -at- psi-it -dot- com> To:<techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Wed, 30 Jun 2010 16:12:36 -0400
I am experienced with cross-reference fields but have problems that have
never arisen before.
1) After adding more than 100 cross-references in my doc., now when I
want to insert a cross-reference to a figure caption, the figure I want
doesn't display in the "Display which caption" list of the
Cross-reference dialog box. In fact after a certain point in that list
every other figure is missing and the list displays only even-numbered
figure captions, and duplicates of each.
2) My cross-reference call-outs in the text have all doubled up: for
example instead of "see Figure 4-45" it will say "see Figure 4-454-45."
I can use the delete key to delete the extra digits, but on updating,
same error displays.
I have tried updating all the fields, rebooting Word and my entire
system but to no avail. Before I apply drastic work-arounds I wonder if
anyone has a solution.
