The issue with WSDL is that the app programmers who need the
documentation don't see WSDL. Their programming environment provides a
tool that transforms the WSDL into a proxy in the language of their
choice -- Java or C# for example. They need to know the arguments to
supply to the proxy, and the types can vary from one environment to
another. Everything gets transformed into SOAP for communication back
to the site providing the service, but those transformations are
inexact, because SOAP types don't map well to programming language
