Please check the archives; this comes up often, and was discussed at length fairly recently. Using Google, try a search string like this: certification site:techwr-l.com
My $0.02: Certification doesn't help writers become more skilled. It may help identify writers who already are more skilled. Or not. The archives contain some good arguments on both sides of that.
