I can help with the first one:
Shift+F5 returns to the previous _editing_ point, which doesn't work for
other readers.
To return to the point where you clicked a cross-reference link, try
Alt+LeftArrow.

Subject: Word 2007 Shift F5
A few more questions someone may be able to solve:
1. In Word 2007, I am making a cross reference to a description item in
a table. I have bookmarked the item in the table, and cross referenced
to it.
It works fine, except that using Shift + F5 does not work consistently
to return to the cross reference source. I have tried saving the doc and
reopening but with the same result. It usually works. If I send this
out, I'm not sure if people can go back using the Shift + F5 key.
2. When Word 2007 is converted to pdf (using Acrobat 6.0) the links
work although do not display as prominently as I would like.
Also, how do I get the link to "GoBack" to the source of the cross
reference? Is there a short cut key in Acrobat that works?
