Word 2007 image issue

I'm working on a document where the original editor had their images text-wrapped oddly (some were in front of text, some were top and bottom, etcetc) - as per instructions, I'm going back and fixing all of the images in the document.  (333 pages of document, EEEK)!



Here's where I am having issues:



If I end up having to cut and paste the image in and out of the document (I'm having each image go in-line with text.  When I fix this, several images appear in the middle of the paragraph, instead of where they should be) - there is a large white space between the image itself and the caption.



However, nothing seems different in the paragraph formatting.  Can anyone give suggestions?



Unfortunately I can't see to cut-n-paste into the email as it ruins the formatting I'm seeing.



Has anyone ever run into this before?  Any way to help me figure this one out?
