Re: Straight-through page numbering

PLEASE don't use anything but straight through if you are offering them as 
pdf files online. Otherwise it is tricky to know intuitively what page to 
print out for eg pages 4.12 to 4.23. Please don't waste my time with 
numbering that is different.

That means starting at one and not using roman numerals for preliminary 
pages.

Perhaps you could number paragraphs. But that only means something  to users 
if they are familiar with chapter 4 and know it well as the chapter on 
certain subject matter.
