Subject:Madcap Flare and inserting Linux code From:"Jon Leer" <jleer -at- leertech -dot- net> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Tue, 16 Nov 2010 16:34:26 -0500
I am generating code samples on a Linux box, and copying snippets to the
clipboard in Windows. When I try to paste them into my Flare project the
indents (show as spaces in Notepad, and tabs in EditPlus), are stripped out,
even if the code is inserted between <pre> tags.
I am using Flare 6.1.0.
The only way I get it to work is by:
1. Creating an HTML file, pasting the code snippet into the <body> and
surrounding it with <pre> tags.
2. Opening the newly created HTML file in Flare, and responding to the
prompt to convert the HTML to XHTML and create a new topic.
3. Copying the new topic's content to my topic where I wanted the code
sample.
Wheewww, what a chore.
I thought there'd be a way to paste code directly, without losing the
tabs/spacing. I have done this with so many other editors (e.g., Framemaker,
Word).
Is there a better way?
Any other Flare features I have overlooked? Or a third-party editor?
