TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
It's been a while since I used Robohelp. Several years ago I switched to
Flare. I think as online help tools, both are excellent. Flare does a little
better job as single sourcing to print, as I recall. Robohelp does a good
job in integrating Captivate videos. I used to single source a lot of
content to print. But now I use a wiki as an online repository of content,
and Indesign to create a printed, condensed version of the guide (often 5-10
pages only). That condensed version doesn't really single source, so my
initial excitement about using Flare to single source my content kind of
deflated as I switched strategies.
