Gene,

In my experience "TP" is indeed a popular abbreviation. I've seen it not 
only in white papers, but in blue, green, pink, and gray at least, not 
to mention in various patterns--even scented.

(Sorry, couldn't resist...)

If feasible, I'd concur with those urging standard abbreviations for 
data rates or, since this is after all presumably the company creating 
the application involved, perhaps even expanding the field a bit to 
accommodate the longest necessary term. That should be simple enough for 
the programmers without resorting to an awkward and potentially 
confusing term.
