RE: Value Add

When somebody comes up with a way to empirically prove to the bean-counters that editors add value, then we will be considered an absolute necessity. Until then, it requires an actual human with wisdom (and leverage) to endow the editorial process with value. Near as I can tell, they don't hardly exist.
