I think Jenny Greenleaf's "dumb blond" trick works so well is that many SMEs
are terrified of facing a blank page when they are asked to write something.
However, they fell no fear in attacking incorrect information and explaining
what is wrong. When I've failed to get SME cooperation, I've also resorted
to pulling something out of the air and asking for it to be reviewed. One
SME was so eager to set me straight that he drew me a whole flow chart on
his white board, and explained the whole process from beginning to end. I
couldn't have asked for better information. The trick was finding an impetus
for him to deliver the information.
