In that case, go with advice from Bill and Britton. A separate set of
instructions for every possible OS, no mingling of different flavors, with
screengrabs of every step and detailed hand-holding right down to the "Click
OK" level. Have a separate link to each one so the user will select XP,
Vista, 7, Mac, Linux, etc. and will see only the instructions for their OS.
Then talk to Tech Support and get logs of all the calls they field on the
subject so you can point out the results the next time you're asked to do
something like this.
