Your results will indicate something that will be accepted as fact when it
have little to do with reality.
Basically, it is a biased survey as it has rigged the start and the sample
yet appears to be representative.
If you have 5 people who have BSEE and go through this, and 20 who have BA
Eng Lit, your results will indicate BA Eng Lit is more common and probably
the way to go when seeking a degree.
However, you may have ignored the 1000 who have no degree but they had a
tech school certificate, an AS degree, military experience, or maybe company
training (which was common once upon a time).
What is often forgotten today is that once upon a time, people graduated
from high school with enough skills to be a success in the world and to earn
a living. Today, they are usually only good to work fast food or go to
college to learn enough to be on a par with high school graduates from 30
years ago or more.

I am really focused in my project at looking at the connection between
Technical Communication in education and in the workplace. I apologize if I
did not make that clear in my original message. Because I am focused on the
link between learning about technical communication and applying technical
communication I am really only looking for information from those who have
degrees. Thank you for your time and your feedback, however, it is most
appreciated.

Sorry, Gabrielle! You lost me (and many others) at Questions 1 and 2:
"What kinds of degrees have you received?" and "What fields are your
degrees in?"
You might want to revise the survey to account for the fact that not all
professional tech writers have degrees.
