On the other hand, if readers have expressed a desire to see that information, I'd say he should retain it, but do add the cost-of-living figures for the countries in question, to provide context.

Information, per se, is not a bad thing, but information that is misleading by virtue of omission or one-sided-ness can be a bad thing.

Of course, then there's the matter of where you get your national cost-of-living figures... The best bet would likely be some "neutral" international source, assuming that it didn't merely gather self-reported figures from the individual countries.

Actually, if I was comparing any two countries, of which NEITHER was the United States, I would look to the reports and summaries published by the US CIA as one of my sources. Just sayin'...

Paresh,

The salary report, as always, is well presented. The salary comparison is, however, unnecessary, pointless, and may be misused. It seems to pit the rates in one country against that of another, and is an invitation for conflict. Please consider removing that section from the report.

Thanks,
Edwin

Kevin is right that a true comparison would include the expense side as
well as the income side of the equation.

But I confess that I had not realized just how significant the differences
are on the income side. I guess I had assumed that call-center jobs paid
that much less in India than in the US, but hadn't realized that tech
writer incomes were so very different.
