Yes, it does both. You can either save the screenshot to a file, copy it to the clipboard, or post it to the website they use call screencast. You can also add arrows, highlighting, callouts, text, etc to the screenshots after they are captured. I love it. I use it on my home pc and use snagit at work. When you download jing it puts a little yellow bubble at the top of your computer screen. You can click it and move it around and drop it somewhere else. But then when you hover over it the options appear. I think you can go into settings and make printscreen the default to open the capture. But I could be getting it confused with snagit. It's totally free and basically the same thing as snagit minus a few features.

The free version of SnagIt is called Jing and it has many of the same features (including the cross-hairs).

I can display the contents of an open file, located on a non-Windows device connected to a USB port via MTP, on my Windows PC. However, while I can wipe to select the displayed contents, I cannot copy them to the Windows Clipboard.
I'm looking for a free utility that can read these displayed contents and has a provision to copy them (CTRL +C is fine) to the Clipboard.
TechSmith's SnagIt can do this hands-down, but I need something more narrowly-focused that is also free. Any suggestions?
