Craig,

Given all the recent revelations about Apple's manufacturing (and by implication a lot of other companies' manufacturing) facilities, it would be nice if someone came up with a "fair trade" laptop or even better a domestic US-made one (replace US with your country of residence if you aren't in the US). Given Apple's markup (I don't really believe their laptops, as nice as they are, are that much more expensive to build than your garden variety PC), you'd think that someone could come up with one at a price that was not crazy.

BTW, while I wish I could claim to have coined the idea of a "fair trade" laptop, I have to confess I stole it from a tweet by Liza Daly (@liza).

In a more practical vein, I've found the CNET (http://cnet.com) reviews to be pretty useful in the past. Also, if it weren't for the Bejeweled Blitz (whatever that is:-), I'd suggest a tablet. My wife hasn't booted her PC since she got an iPad over a year ago. All the other tasks can be handled easily on a tablet and maybe BB, too.

Best Regards,
Richard
