But... none of these suggestions are one-word verbs that implicitly include the rest of the phrase I included in the quotes: "gain a follower". They're all replacements for the "gain" part, but then you still have to say what was gained (or lured or seduced, etc.)
The analogy I have in my mind is that one could say, "he ingested food" or "he ate" -- here "ate" is a one-word verb that describes "ingested food".
So, any suggestions that adhere to those requirements?
I'm thinking that there aren't any, but I was just wishful of a shorter way to say "gain followers", which I believe is perfectly in keeping with Facebook guidelines (with which I am already familiar).
