Mike and his co-author have done a wonderful job with their book "WordPress in Depth" and I recommend it highly for anyone who would like to learn how to use WordPress.

Full disclosure: Mike and I are both members of the Wisconsin chapter of STC and, as such, are friendly acquaintances. However, that has had no influence on my opinion of his book.

Best regards,

Mike

Personally, I've never found WordPress easy to use. I even got a book;
it was so little help I just fuggadaboudit. I've heard many others say
the same (about WordPress).

Perhaps your book is different, Mike M., but I"m not even tempted to
try. Much as I like a challenge, there are some frustrations I don't
need :-)

Kathleen,

Admittedly, I have a bias (see sig below). But if the person seeking the
website is looking for "easy to use," in the sense of
administration/updates, WordPress will quite fit the bill better than any
static site, whatever tool you use to create it.

A glance at the Informatica source says that it's not WordPress-based, but I
could easily see how you might get those effects with WordPress.
Unfortunately, my plate's full. 8-(

Second thoughts here...

Why WordPress? How about Xara (inexpensive tool)? I think it might
work a lot better for that type of site, tho I'm not an expert on
these things.

That's a nice site.

Is that done in WordPress? If so, someone really knows their stuff.

Hi, all: I have a client in need of a WordPress designer. The client
is a
great guy to work with (WordPress just doesn't happen to be my area of
expertise).

He wants a website that is easy to use, and adheres to accepted
standards of
design, but takes the "out of the box" WordPress template a little
farther.

As an example of a web site that he likes, see www.informatica.com.
