I don't know the phone version but I do know that the location bar is the search bar but it's not the same; the desktop version has a separate search tool on the right side just below the title bar; I've customized the available searches so I can drop down the list and choose exactly which site I want to search; my default search is Yahoo but I often use Wikipedia, Amazon, IMDB, Urban Dictionary right from there and it takes me right to what I want. I want the Android version to be the same as the desktop version.

As far as history goes, I want to set the Android version of Firefox just like I have my desktop version set... it doesn't save any history information. Links are never marked as visited. As far as I can tell there's no way to set the Android version to do that.

Best regards,

Mike

I have an Android tablet (Motorola Xoom) and I really dislike Android and Android applications. It take me so much more work to do things I'm used to doing in Windows and the Android versions of applications I use in Windows don't have all the features I'm used to. I really miss the search box below the title bar of the Windows version of Firefox... not there in Android.

Huh? Is the tablet version different than the phone version? The location bar is the search bar in Firefox for my phone.

The Android version of Firefox doesn't have any history settings.

The old version of Firefox had the settings to one side of the view and there were back and forth buttons, there were options on each side of the view but I don't remember which side things were on. I would swipe the screen to one side to see the options. The new version of Firefox provides tabs for top sites, bookmarks, and history, along with a search bar, at the new tab button (+). Both versions of Firefox sync to a laptop or PC version of Firefox, although I use Chrome on my laptop and I usually use Dolphin on my Android, which imports favorites from somewhere, either Google or Firefox. Google stored all of my bookmarks and web history which was a great help when my old laptop suffered a total system failure and my backups weren't backing up.

There's no version of Thunderbird for Android... it takes way longer to do things in the web interfaces for my various email accounts than it does in Thunderbird. <sigh>

I want a Thunderbird for Android. I am using the Google Mail app or whatever it is that came with my phone. I can sync my email, but I want to sync my accounts the way Google syncs my web settings.
