I've been told that I rewrite good. ;-)

I "lay down my sword." I was really having hard time seeing how to rewrite those sentences. For the record, I support writing in a gender neutral manner whenever possible.

When did I have a technical writing class? Like 1994 or so. Back then, I learned about gender neutral writing and since then, I have challenged myself by finding "impossible" passages to rewrite without gender. This is a fun hobby of mine, but if you read the archives from a previous discussion of plurality and gender-specific writing, many comments toward me were that my constructions could lead to dry writing and writing that was not empathic enough for the audience. That may be true, but I prefer dry and neutral writing.
