The study is correct. I have observed that in telling to people how to lead a horse, "Do it this way, it's safer," is not as effective as "This way looks more professional." The self image is important, and there is probably a lesson in there for us.

(The particular issue for me is that the person should hold the excess of the horse's lead rope doubled up in the left hand, rather than looped or wrapped around the left wrist.)
