I still haven't done the LinkedIn thing, but when I finally decided to see what Facebook looked like, I took a self-snapshot and cartoonized it by fiddling with levels in GIMP.

When (if) I get around to LinkedIn, I'll shave off the grey-and-white beard (that annoys my wife - she doesn't want to admit she's married to an "Olde Guye"). The hair on top is still both plentiful and brown, so I look older than 35 (lots), but younger than 60 (some)... :-)

For an age-sensitive video-Skype, I might consider strong backlighting... ;->

That was all hashed over in a previous post herein.

Iffen (sic) you have pro A/V gear, have a great backdrop, are an expert in using body language to your advantage, have initially practiced with a disinterested fellow Skyper, don't have graying hair and are somehow able to show your complete versatility during such a session, then by all means forge ahead.

I still think about EEoE issues in relation to both Skype interviews and use of one's mug on LinkedIn (to which I finally succumbed, given that I'll be retiring from my current employer at some point). Sharing your mug with world is essential if you're applying for a TV anchor position or an open *Dancing With the Stars* judge slot, but is it really essential for an experienced, versatile technical writer having an extensive portfolio? *(Bah!)*

A telephone interview works just as well and eliminates the opening two-second thumbs-down when the interviewer immediately discerns that you're older than 35.
