Re: Contract work - 1099 or W-2?

One thing I've encountered in the current climate is that one probably will
not be able to meet any of the formulas for 1099 rates.

How much it will be off will depend on how rare your skill set is and where
you're located. I imagine Silicon Valley is a good location for openings;
don't have any idea how their current rates are.

At least that has been my experience (but although I'm a superb writer, I
don't have a rare skill set). Considering all the other caveats, I just go
W2. You should still be able to deduct any medical expenses, too???
