What I am hearing is that I should avoid both "perform" and "do," and reword any sentences that use them.

Re this particular reword --- the focus of this discussion is not on testing a capacitor, it's on using the Simple Loop trigger model (which is a new concept).

So this would have to reword to "This example uses the Simple loop trigger model to test a capacitor."
