If that's the case, if your documents are consistent now, don't change anything. If they are inconsistent, use whichever wording is more common and standardize.

Rewriting extraneous verbiage will not improve it, especially if you're not going to go back and change all your existing documents to match. You will just be making it extraneous *and* inconsistent. Leave it the way it is until you you implement the new format, then do global revisions.
