Re: need a word for "ranging"

I think "dynamic" is fine. Hot-swapping in the event of failure is
fault tolerance, not dynamic allocation of nodes.

Alternatively, if the number of nodes varies between minimum and
maximum based on current load, you could say "load-sensitive."
